Revoked Medicare Provider Reinstated

Posted on Firm News by author

The Firm has secured the reinstatement of the billing number for a provider that was revoked by Medicare for the last year. Through a combination of appeals and direct interaction with Medicare officials, Medicare agreed to reverse the revocation, finding that the provider had made a good faith effort to comply.

The provider was revoked due to a failure to submit the required information on the Medicare Enrollment Form (855). The provider had submitted a change notice and requested a new suffix, but had not canceled the prior suffix. When a Medicare contractor conducted an onsite inspection at the prior location and did not find the provider practicing there, the provider number was revoked for what was to be a period of two years. Attorney Erin Bengele worked with the provider to submit an appeal and ultimately convinced the Medicare carrier to reverse the revocation due to the provider’s substantial compliance and good faith effort to comply.
